Insight Lander’s Seismic Experiment for Interior Structure (SEIS) recorded a faint seismic signal on April 6, 2019, that Lander’s 128th Martian Day. Insight Lander was placed on the planet on December 18, 2018.

The trembling recorded was so small, that it could have been neglected if it was on earth. Mar has the most silent atmosphere, so a small deflection can be recorded; whereas on earth, due to wind, tidal waves and other sounds, such trembling is never even considered.

Mars and Moon do not have tectonic plates, but still, they experience quakes like these due to climate temperature range and contraction caused by it.

Three other signals were also recorded on March 14, April 10 and April 11, but those signal were smaller than the one of April 6.

The people at NASA were so excited by this event and some of them even said that they have been waiting for such an event for months and now that they have the data, they will initiate for the complete study of the “Marsquake.”
