June 21, 2019, The Liberacy:- Om Birla, on Wednesday was chosen unanimously as the speaker of the 17th Loksabha. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself proposed his name in the house, which was first accepted by Rajnath Singh, then by Amit Shah, following by other members of the house including the opposition.

PM Modi and the leader of the opposition from Congress Party were amongst the member who honored Om Birla with the position, by walking him to the seat.

Om Birla is a two-time parliamentarian who has won the 2014 and 2019 elections from the constituency of Kota, Rajasthan, This time he won his seat by defeating the Congress candidate Ramnarayan Meena by 200,000 votes.

Before his journey to Loksabha, Birla has served in Rajasthan Legislature Assembly for three times and was elected in the 12th, 13th and 14th State assemblies (in the year 2003, 2008 and 2013 respectively)

During his school days, he was the President of the Student Union at “Government Senior Secondary School, Gumanpura” in the year 1975.

Birlas love for BJP was well proven from his earlier days, he was the president of Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha for continuous four Years, then he served as the state president of Rajasthan for BJP for 6 years and after that he was chosen as the National Vice President of “All India Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha” that continued for 6 long years too.

Om Birla in his working state served in many departments including, Coal India where he was appointed as the Director. He was the chairman of Rajasthan State Cooperative Association and he was also appointed as the Vice President of National Cooperative Consumer Association in his previous years.

Om Birla was also arrested in the Babri Masjid case in Uttar Pradesh.
