Houston:- Kyren Lacy dies at the age of 24, a former wide receiver for Louisiana State University (LSU), has died in Houston, Texas. His death, confirmed by a family member, is being investigated as a suspected suicide.
Lacy’s passing occurred just days before a grand jury was set to hear evidence in a case where he faced charges of negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless operation of a vehicle. These charges stemmed from a December 2024 incident in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana, where Lacy was allegedly involved in a fatal car crash that resulted in the death of 78-year-old Herman Hall, a former U.S. Marine.
During the 2024 season, Lacy led the LSU Tigers with nine receiving touchdowns and was second in both receptions (58) and receiving yards (866). Over his five-year collegiate career, which included time at the University of Louisiana and LSU, he amassed 162 receptions for 2,360 yards and 26 touchdowns.
Lacy had declared for the 2025 NFL Draft in December, shortly after the fatal accident. However, his legal issues overshadowed his professional aspirations, as he was not invited to the NFL Combine and was facing serious criminal charges.
The LSU community and fans nationwide are mourning the loss of a talented athlete whose career was marred by tragedy. His death highlights the profound impact of mental health challenges, especially when compounded by legal and personal issues.
