Guadalajara, Mexico:- Vicente Fernandez is Dead. The Mexican musical legend and its national treasure took his last breath in a hospital in Guadalajara, Jalisco. He was 81.
The news was announced from his own Instagram account with his photo posted and saying, “Rest in Peace Mr. Vicente Fernández. We regret to inform you of his death on Sunday, December 12 at 6:15 a.m.,”
Vicente Fernandez was known as “Chente” to his fans, for his iconic love songs and countryside songs whose legacy went all the way across the border to the USA.
Vicente Fernández was honored with a star in 1998 on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was also honored with three Grammy awards and eight Latin Grammys.
Fernández left this world on the same day when Mexico celebrates the Feast of the Virgen de Guadalupe or the Virgin of Guadalupe.
December 12 holds a special significance for the people of Mexican origin as it marks the date in 1531, when the Virgin Mary is purported to have appeared to Juan Diego, an Indigenous Mexican, in the last of several apparitions.
