Qingdao, China:- Russia and China Joint Naval Exercise began in the Qingdao province of Eastern China, amid the Ukraine conflict that has brought NATO and Russia against each other once again, just eight years after Russia annexed the Crimean peninsula.
Admiral Tributs, the Russian ship that arrived at the Dagang port of Qingdao saw Chinese soldiers and sailors waiting in line to welcome with a warm winter reception for a massive joint exercise of around 10,000 troops between Russia and China.
China has been looking ahead to modernize its Navy by the mid of 21st century and exercises like these help China to match the level of world powers like Russia. Xi Jinping has announced that the modernization work would be completed by the year 2035.
The Joint Naval exercise is seen in the west, mainly among the NATO allies, as a threat to the changing world order and the rising Eurasian powers, who are mainly not friendly to the west, except for India, which decides to lower the tensions by not joining sides but to negotiate on the table.
Ukraine conflict is seen to be affected if it breaks out into a potential war of Russia versus NATO.
The US has already sent weapons and medical equipment to Ukraine worth millions, in response to war action approved by the Biden administration against Russian aggression which is seen as an attempt to regain what was lost after the split of the Soviet Union and control over the Mediterranean Sea.
