Tatkal tickets are booked a day before the train’s departure date, the number of seats is pre-defined and the slots are opened for booking in various time periods based on seat type.

First, you need to select “Tatkal” while in the first step of booking a ticket and search for the train and route you prefer.
The following results and queries will automatically be for Tatkal tickets only, including the prices.
Select the train and time you prefer, and select continue.
Enter the name of the passengers, addresses, and contact details.
Complete the payment process. Remember that the fare for Tatkal tickets is higher than normal tickets.
Tatkal tickets exhaust within minutes as the ticket window is opened for bookings, so remember to prefill the passenger details and address and import it as quickly as possible while booking the ticket.
Tatkal tickets are booked in timeslots for various classes of train tickets i.e. AC and non-AC classes.
It can be booked a day before the day of travel, from 10:00 hrs for AC class (2A/3A/CC/EC/3E) and at 11:00 hrs for Non- AC class(SL/FC/2S). If the train departure is on the 16th of August, Tatkal tickets should be booked on the 15th of August in the timeslots given above.
