Former US President Jimmy Carter will spend his ‘Remaining Time’ till death receiving Hospice Care instead of any further Medical Treatment to improve his health, as announced by the Carter Center.
Hospice Care is given to terminally ill patients, where the aim is not to improve the patient’s medical condition, but to only reduce the pain and discomfort as the patient proceeds towards a peaceful death.
Jimmy Carter is 98 years old.
“After a series of short hospital stays, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter today decided to spend his remaining time at home with his family and receive hospice care instead of additional medical intervention,” a statement released by the Carter Center, which further adds, “He has the full support of his family and his medical team. The Carter family asks for privacy during this time and is grateful for the concern shown by his many admirers.”
Jimmy Carter was the 39th President of the United States of America and was diagnosed with cancer in 2015, which further worsened in condition as it spread to the other parts of his body.
