Nelson Piquet’s racial slur was condemned and criticized by the F1 star, Lewis Hamilton. He condemned Nelson Piquet’s racial slur against him in an interview podcast in Portuguese following last year’s British Grand Prix.
Nelson Piquet is a three-time F1 Champion, a 69-year-old Brazilian. His interview was a podcast after the British Grand Prix after the infamous collision of Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton at Silverstone.
Nelson Piquet is the father of Max Verstappen’s girlfriend and abused Hamilton racially for mishandling the car.
Hamilton took to Twitter and wrote, “It’s more than language. These archaic mindsets need to change and have no place in our sport. I’ve been surrounded by these attitudes and targeted my whole life. There has been plenty of time to learn. Time has come for action.”
“Vamos focar em mudar a mentalidade” he added in another tweet, which translates into,
“Let’s focus on changing the mindset.”
Formula One also condemned the racist remarks by former champion Nelson and said that these racist mindsets have no place in our sport.
