Joshimath, Chamoli, Uttarakhand:- Joshimath cracks were spotted all across the town, as deep land subsidence left cracks on roads, walls and buildings, putting residents in grave danger.
Joshimath is the winter abode of Lord Badrinath and has seen a tourist/population explosion over the years, and this led to rough construction all around the city, and this is seen as the main cause of the cracks seen all across the town.
Uttarakhand CM Dhami has ordered a scientific study of the “Sinking Town” and assured that the safety of the residents is the top priority.
Joshimath is located on the foothills of the Himalayas and it is situated on the site of an extremely old or ancient landslide, but recently its exploitation has become a regular thing, as residents suggest, there are vast construction expeditions taken on, for tourism and Himalaya exploration, as it is close to it.
Currently, CM has ordered to stop all sorts of construction in and around Joshimath and scientists have been ordered to probe into the sinking of Joshimath, on the other hand, it has become a top priority to ensure safety from Joshimath Cracks.
