Groundhog Day Prediction was back as Punxsutawney Phil celebrated Groundhog Day with thousands in Pennsylvania on Thursday 2nf of February 2023, where Phil, at 7:25 am and announced his prediction, forecasting six more weeks of Winter this year, by looking at his shadow at Gobbler’s Knob in Punxsutawney.
The event is organized every year by the members of his inner circle who also have top hats, and this year marks 137 years of this tradition and Phil has seen the shadow for prediction for the 107th time.
In 2022, the forecasting event was held in Jefferson County, which is northeast of Pittsburgh, while in 2021 even was held digitally through video conference citing the Covid19 Pandemic and the outbreak of Coronavirus.
The Groundhog Day Prediction is organized every year on the 2nd day of February, the midway between the start and end of Winter, and it has its origins back to Candlemas day in Europe.
If Phil doesn’t see his shadow, this means early Spring, but in 2023 Phil saw his shadow and predicted 6 weeks of winter ahead.
