April 11, 2021, The Liberacy:- Tika Utsav, as called by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi for a vaccination drive from April 11 to April 14, aims at boosting up the energy for the vaccination drive and promotes and encourage the maximum number of eligible people to get done with the vaccination.
India’s vaccination drive is the largest in the world and has recently faced backlash with a shortage in supply that resulted in the shutting down of several Vaccination centers across the country.
Tika Utsav, in its literal translation, means “Vaccination Festival” but the question is,
Why is India Celebrating Vaccination?

Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi is known for his unique ideas of boosting the energy of any campaign. Last year Prime Minister called up for banging up of plates to the lighting of candles to boost up the morale of the Covid19 front-line workers.
This time, PM has sought a unique name that would drive out the eligible people, above the age of 45 to take the dose of vaccine as the Indian vaccine program is at an average speed, at current vaccination speed, India would require 2.4 years to vaccinate 75% of its population. The main reason for such setback is the questioning of the vaccine and fear of side effects.
Currently, Indian has rolled out two vaccines, with 100% testing and approval from various institutions.
CovidShield, made by Serum Institute of India, and Covaxin made by Bharat Biotech are the two vaccines. Both vaccines have some reaction, the main being mild fever, which is nothing but a vaccine generating its protection in the body.
While boosting the morale of the people eligible to take the vaccine, let’s not forget the people suffering from the Covid19. India is currently showcasing the largest number of Covid19 cases with over 100,000 cases every day and over 170,000 deaths in total now.
With such celebration rolling out for vaccination drive questions the sensitivity of the leaders in addressing the lost lives and the struggle that the population is facing every day. Obviously, there are good points of the Tika Utsav too, the main being that it will increase the trust of people in the vaccine drive and also will increase the speed of vaccination, but the word “Festival” also undermines the rough life of people due to Covid19 and the lockdown and will also put a negative mark on the people who lost their loved ones in the battle to covid.
Under the second wave, the village population of India is largely affected, unlike during the first wave, where the village population was hardly touched by the Covid. This has created a unique scenario for the government and covid front-line workers to overcome the overwhelming cases.
